The Crew

Swagata:
I like to think of myself as Skipper, but I will settle for co-skipper. I was born with a genetic quirk, which does not allow me to throw away any broken appliance until I have fixed it at least 5 times. I hope not to have to put this to much use on Jajabor, but I know better. I am an Architect by profession, and I continue running my practice working remotely from the boat.  This is not always easy staying connected across time-zones, flaky wi-fi connectivity, and staying focused while constantly traveling.

I enjoy traveling, scuba diving and back-country hiking.  When I am not working I love to knit, make soaps, lotions, and balms and bake sour dough bread.

Sunil:
In my dreams I grew up next to the ocean and started sailing when I was 10 and I am now a master skipper. The reality, however, is that my path to sailing started by learning to swim as an adult! From swimming at the local YMCA pool, to open water, to scuba diving around the world, and to sailing, I learn something every day.

It must be the engineer in me that makes me risk averse in my approach to sailing. In my book – a successful voyage is one without drama. Anticipating problems and having a plan to deal with them is intrinsic to how I am wired. I am a lazy sailor – looking at ways to reduce work and just enjoying the journey. In my travels, I seek out smaller towns and villages. I enjoy running and binge-watching Netflix.
